Summary An opportunity for an experienced Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC for Telespazio VEGA UK. Objective Reporting to the Head of Dependability and Safety Section supporting project specific programmatic and technical dependability and safety requirements within the framework of the ESA Product Assurance Safety baseline. Responsibilities Duties Duties may include but are not limited to Support RD activities e.g. TRP, GSP, GSTP, CDs Dossiers etc. Participate in collaborative activities with universities, research institutes and industry scouting, Research Fellowship, NPI etc.. Support organisation of conferences and workshops. Contribute to continual improvement of the RAMS Toolbox. Support preparation of training courses and materials. Technical support to projects for the interpretation of safety requirements and participation in safety reviews. Support preparation and preliminary assessment of Safety Data Package for Safety Authority approval. Qualifications Experience MSc or equivalent in a relevant sciencetechnical subject. Relevant experience of application of RAMS engineering to space programs, including in ground andor ground based systems and operations. Experience in design and engineering of safety critical systems. A handson knowledge of the RAMS analyses and methodologies Hardware and Software, preparation of relevant RAMS documentation during the overall project lifecycle and application of ECSS dependability and safety standards. Experience in dependability and safety engineering management processes and objectives and experience during operations is an advantage. Experience in the field of ground safety and projects assistance in obtaining the relevant launch centre safety certification is an advantage. Knowledge of RTCADO178C Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification and related certification schemes, and experience in interfacing certification authorities is considered an asset. Knowledge of EU Safety Directive as Directive 9837EC Machinery, Directive 9992EC Risk from Explosive Atmospheres, Directive 9723EC Pressure Equipment and other safety directives relevant for space is considered an asset. Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate RAMS tools is an advantage. Essential Skills Good English language skills Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to present and effectively communicate quality system processes. Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team environment. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration. Description RHEA Group is currently recruiting a Software Engineer to support our MOIS Support and Development team at in both RHEA Group and ESOC premises in Darmstadt, Germany. RHEA Groups MOIS product is an integrated set of software tools for spacecraft test and mission operation procedure preparation and execution. It is used by ESA on all current and upcoming missions and is also provided as a commercial product to the space industry, including prime contractors and spacecraft operators. The software is used for more than 80 satellites. Tasks and Activities As a Software and Support Engineer, your envisaged tasks and activities include Providing high quality technical user support for the MOIS software tool to various spacecraft project and mission teams at ESA ESOC. Implementing missionspecific enhancements to the MOIS product. Taking ownership of technical issues, and working closely with the MOIS Development Team to resolve more advanced issues where necessary. Ensuring timely bug fixes and communication to the ESAESOC user community. In addition to providing user support at ESOC, you will also be working closely with the MOIS Development Team in Darmstadt on a number of major software enhancements that aim to widen the scope of the MOIS product and integrate the latest technologies. During the first years you will be mainly focussing on supporting the MOIS ESOC users, after 2 years your tasks will shift to contribute to other RHEA Group software development projects related to developing Space Ground Segment software solutions. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in Software Engineering or equivalent. At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in software engineering more specifically, requirements analysis, system analysis and design and development, database SQL and XML design, web services, user interface design. Experience in technical document writing notably, user requirements, design documentation, and test documentation. Strong knowledge of objectoriented and serviceoriented design techniques. Required experience using VB6 MS Office and MS Office development macros, interop MS Windows environment registry, COM, etc. Software Configuration Management SCM systems e.g. SubVersion, Mercuria and Git Desired experience using .NET JAVA Eclipse XML, WSDL Linux Software product support and maintenance experience. A clientoriented attitude and a willingness to provide user interaction and support. A dynamic and proactive attitude, with a strong commitment to the ongoing development and quality of the MOIS product. Excellent communications skills, with very good written and spoken English.
