Unix and Storage Engineering Support 1413037 Job Description As a member of the Computer and Storage Management team, the key person shall provide support to the development and maintenance of storage systems with special focus on archive and retrieval services. The duties include the administration and operation of the central archive systems, administration of backup and Unix systems, maintenance of the external storage, inventory and support to the operation of the storage and computing services. The key person shall perform the following tasks monitoring of the facility services, computing, storage, backup and archive performance, investigation into HW and SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions ensuring that in case of HW or SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backuparchive procedures liaison with the external providers of HW and SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions analysis, planning and performance of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between computing and storage subsystems implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities, generation or update of associated technical documentation provision of standbyoncall support provision of support, as required, to critical operations. In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The tasks assigned to the key person will be agreed through dedicated workpackages with clear identification of activities and outputs expected. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent minimum of 3 years experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed storage and computing systems. The experience should have been made in an operational or production environment, characterized by custom applications in addition to standard software, running both on the client and server side, and by high availability requirements. Fluency in English. Instrument Team Management Support in the LEO Division 1413039 Job Description The Management Support Consultant shall report to the LEO Instrument Team Leader, who is responsible for the instrument projects and for the daytoday assignment of the Consultants activities. Initially the consultant will mainly work on EPS but in the future shehe may be involved in EPS Second Generation . The tasks of the Management Support Consultant shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following Provision of support to the Instrument Team Leader and his Deputy in management related aspects. Support and participation to instrument and satellite reviews, e.g. Flight Acceptance Reviews, generation of RIDs. Ensure the technical coordination of the Metop instruments in support to the EPS Project Manager and liaise as needed with EUMETSAT Partners ESA NOAA NASA CNES Support the EPS Project Manager for the MHS FM4 followon Support instrument related storagedestorage activities, reactivation and recalibration campaigns. Support the investigations and corrective actions related to anomalies occurring on Metop instruments on ground or in orbit. Support also as requested the EPS Second Generation Programme for the instruments aspects Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. The Consultant is required to have the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with the minimum of supervision. A background of at least 8 years in space hardware projects, with at least 3 years experience in project management positions preferably in the area of remote sensing instruments. Knowledge of QA processes and procedures and good computing skills with a familiarity with Microsoft Office software Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Access, etc.. Good interpersonal skills. Furthermore, the Consultant should preferably have experience of working on a collaborative programme between different partners. Fluency in English.
