Britain tells Japan to aim for 40% reduction on greenhouse gases

Asahi Shimbun: Britain has urged Japan to set an ambitious target in cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Edward Davey, the British secretary of state for energy and climate change, suggested Japan should slash emissions by at least 40 percent over the 2005 level. Tokyo has yet to submit its proposal despite the United Nations having set a March 31 deadline for countries to announce their goals for the period after 2020. ASTM Standard helps labs test for dissolved gases in water.

Proposed ASTM standard, WK43267, Test Method for Measurement of Dissolved Gases Methane, Ethane, Ethylene, and Propane by Static Headspace Sampling and Flame Ionization Detection will help environmental and testing laboratories ensure that drinking water is safe in areas in which hydraulic fracturing occurs. Laboratories would use proposed test to compare water from fracturing areas to water prepared with dissolved gases as a serial dilution.
