Senior Ground Systems Engineer 2 year project contract Ref SES0443 Region Europe Location Luxembourg Betzdorf Company SES Category Ground Terrestrial Engineering Position Staff Context SES TechCom services is levering on the technical expertise accumulated within the SES Group by operating satellites for more than 25 years and provides technical services to the Satellite Industry on a worldwide basis. In order to support its growth, SES Techcom Services as a need for an additionnal resource to support projects in the field of Ground Solutions. In this position you will contribute to and lead projects related to the development, implementation, improvement of ground based services and systems. You will as well be responsible to attract new projects for SES and SES TechCom. In cooperation with SES internal and external partners, you will develop technical and business solutions. Key activities include customer requirements collection, engineering of communications systems, preparation of and or contributions to request for proposals, studies, reports, specifications, contractual documentation and operational guidelines, leading of multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams. The mission consists in the successful realization of projects, product and services that support SES TechCom to become a leading supplier of technical productsservices, systems and applications in the field of satelliterelated engineering and operations to satellite manufacturers, satellite operators and associated partners. Responsibilities Attract contracts by managing or supporting customer requests for proposal RFP, comprised of activities such proposal team set up and management, technical and financial proposal preparation, and contract negotiation Deliver products, services, systems to customers within budget, specification and on time Either support or be responsible to o Design, specify and implement Satellite Control Systems RF TTC systems including the tracking antennas Baseband and control room systems Satellite ranging systems. o Design, specify and implement fixed, transportable or mobile uplink or receiveonly stations o Design subsystems and implement earth station equipment including antennas, HPAs, switch matrix, updownconverters, modulators and interfacility equipment o Design, specify and manage the integration of measurement, communications and monitoring control systems including MC Systems o Perform transmission analysis, in particular link budget calculations, and studies in support of business development, customer services o Conceptual design of innovative satellite networks andor network elements and development of associated specifications o Preparation of commercial documentation such as system requirements specifications, technical system specifications, and contractual documents in coordination with other internal and external parties o Collect customer requirements, perform system design, setup budgets, handle procurements, manage installations and the operational handover of ground segment and communications systems. o Followup of delivered systems during lifetime operations o Execute other telecommunications related projects Manage and build up successful technical customer and partner relationships Awareness and evaluation of relevant technological developments, market trends, competitive factors, customer requirements, standardisation licensing and regulatory aspects Promote SES and SES TechCom products and services in the Satellite Industry and Satellite Communication Markets Support the preparation of SES TechCom Operational Expenses budgets Travel as required to meet customers, partners and vendors and attend exhibitions, conferences, working group meetings Provide multiple engineering and operations services to SES companies and partners. Experience Qualifications Have a university degree in RF, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent Have min. 5 years of applicable professional experiences in engineering and implementing of telecommunications systems. Computer Literacy Autocad, Matlab, MS office, MS project Have excellent and proven projectbudget and time management experience Be able to integrate into andor lead crossfunctional andor virtual project teams Have good communication capabilities, analytical sense, innovative spirit, business mind, selfstarting qualities, coordination and priority setting abilities Proactive approach towards potential andor current customers Conflict management skills in a multicultural and interdisciplinary setup Excellent internal and external communication skills as well as teamspirit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Fluency in English plus at least one other European language. (Telecompaper) Nokia Networks has bought a 3-D geolocation software solution from Nice Systems to enhance the planning and optimisation of multivendor mobile networks. Nokia said the geolocation technology will help provide it with deep insights into traffic trends and performance. The company intends to enhance the Nice solution to offer superior services to its customers, regardless of which network equipment they use, said Dennis Lorenzin, head of Network Planning and Optimisation at the Global Services business unit of Nokia Networks. Dror Nemirovsky, who heads the company's ecosystem ventures division added, "Nokia Networks intends to build up a competence centre in Israel, develop its future portfolio around 3-D modeling, and increase automation in its services."
