Telia Norway brings out unlimited subscription called Telia X

(Telecompaper) Telia Norway has announced the launch of a subscription called Telia X, which it says allows customers to surf and stream using the mobile internet on their phone as much as they like, and to share data with other people. Downloads will be throttled to 3 Mbps once customers have used 40 GB in a month. Kjersti Jamne, head of Telia Norway's private market division said this is a truly unlimited service, in that everything is permitted, including using the SIM in one's broadband router.

(Telecompaper) Telia Company is planning job cuts, according to the Swedish radio news service, Ekot, citing CEO Johan Dennelind. Cutbacks will apply in several countries, including Sweden, he said. The operator has met up with Swedish trade unions this morning to discuss which areas will be affected and how many workers, and Seko union vice-chairman Hans Gustavsson said he expects at least 100 Swedish jobs to go.

(Telecompaper) Telia Company reported fourth-quarter sales up 4.9 percent to SEK 22.21 billion, helped by its takeover of Get and TDC's activities in Norway from October. Service revenues in local currencies, excluding acquisitions and disposals, declined 2.5 percent, as market conditions remained difficult in its biggest market Sweden, offsetting growth in other countries. Adjusted EBITDA rose 3.3 percent to SEK 6.74 billion but was down 5.5 percent in local currencies, after adjusting for acquisitions and disposals.
Telia Finland discontinues fixed line telephony in 2019

(Telecompaper) Telia Finland said it will discontinue the provision of fixed line telephony in 2019 and is encouraging customers to switch to mobile phone services. It said its mobile network covers is 99.9 percent of the population. Jari Collin, technology director, said the number of landline subscriptions has been decreasing steadily year by year, and that the technology was becoming "obsolete".

Telia, Turkcell agree sale of Kcell to Kazakhtelecom

(Telecompaper) Telia Company has confirmed the sale of Kazakhstan mobile operator Kcell, which it jointly owns with Turkcell, to state-controlled operator Kazakhtelecom. The fixed operator will pay USD 446 million for the 75 percent stake.
