(Telecompaper) Telia Company said that Anders Olsson, chief operating officer and head of global services and operations (GSO) at Telia Company, has been appointed executive vice president and CEO of Telia Sweden from 01 June. He replaces Johan Dennelind, president and CEO of Telia Company, who has been acting CEO of Telia Sweden. Magnus Zetterberg will replace Olsson as COO and head of GSO in October at the latest, having left the role of CTO at Telenor Norway in March.

Tele2, Telia plan shutdown of 3G network in Sweden

(Telecompaper) Tele2 and Telia said they agreed to accelerate the transition from 3G to 4G by gradually phasing out the 3G network in their Swedish network joint venture Sunab. At present, the 3G network has over 6,000 base stations, and these will gradually be phased out or reused in other network expansions, which will result in cost and energy savings.
