Astrium Services Government Communications is the worlds leading commercial provider of militarygrade satellite communications. EADS the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. A vacancy has arisen for a Head of Service Delivery UK Services with Astrium Services Government Communications in Hawthorn. The Head of Service Delivery UK Services will focus on driving the development of Astrium Government Communications with full PL responsibility. The business has grown steadily over the past 10 years. The division is now looking for a commercially experienced manager to join the business and to take it through the next stage of its development. The role will take responsibility for all aspects of service delivery including the ground interface and equipment, the planning and operation of the network, monitoring performance, the maintenance regime, support infrastructure and the customer interface. This individual will be heavily focused on business development and maintaining enduring customer relationships. In a particularly competitive market, success will come from building on innovation, agility, capability and value for money, ensuring that a relationship of trusted partner exists with the client community. The successful candidate will, therefore, demonstrate a combination of commercial and operational abilities. The newly appointed Head of Service Delivery UK Services will be charged with the creation of a clear roadmap to drive the company forward. Head of Service Delivery UK Services key responsibility is to bring greater commercial focus to the Government Communications division by driving a culture of empowerment, enhanced capability and competitive edge across the organisation. The successful individual will take full responsibility for implementing and executing necessary business plans and accompanying cultural change working in partnership with other senior colleagues to ensure that the business fulfils its mission. Detailed Responsibilities Grow the revenue and market share of the company in the UK profitably, ensuring that targets are met in terms of turnover and margin. Management of the customer interface to ensure that current and future needs are met. Meet customer and user satisfaction targets in terms of performance against Service Level Agreements. Deliver the endtoend service to the agreed metrics. Define the vision of the business and best practices with a view to creating a worldwide bestinclass operation leveraging best practice, encouraging improvements to capability and facilitating the transfer of knowledge. Ensure the efficient operation of Paradigms networks to provide a robust and resilient platform for the services. Maintain and support the UK and overseas network infrastructure to meet contracted milestones. Implement a new organisation to deliver improved metrics and be an active driver of culture change in terms of main processes, business focus, accountability, customer focus, synergies, team work and supplier management. Lead the UK Business Delivery team and coordinate management responsibilities across the Business Delivery division. Working closely with senior management, develop and review strategies and operating plans and agree the immediate and longer term courses of action to be pursued. Continuously examine and challenge the service offering, seeking innovative ways to shape the business and operational resources to meet customer needs. Actively monitor changing market conditions, anticipate competitive activity and plan for and implement effective responses to new trends. Ensure the business is underpinned with the necessary process, systems and measurements which enable it to measure performance against clear KPIs. Taking a lead role with key customers and help develop new business opportunities and core areas for growth alongside internal teams. Promote the attainment of world class standards in the delivery of customer service and satisfaction. A proven, commercially focused operational manager with a demonstrable track record in the achievement of demanding targets. Full PL experience within ideally the satellite or terrestrial communications sector. Experience of interacting with core defence related customers and when appropriate, leading the relationship building effort at the highest levels. Proven leadership skills in generating cash and taking a business to the next level with a real understanding of a culture of KPIs, best practice and benchmarking systems. A vacancy has arisen for a Head of Service Creation with Astrium Services Government Communications in Stevenage. This is a senior leadership role and is expected to strengthen GC leadership at all levels, by adopting a cabinet responsibility to deliver GC objectives, and to work with GC leadership colleagues to support the strategic vision and direction provided by the GC Executive Director. This role can be based at any Astrium GC site. The purpose of the Service Creation Department is to Ensure that the GC business objectives are fulfilled by effective management of the portfolio of service products throughout the life cycles. Innovate and create new service products and associated business propositions based on defined or assumed market needs in line with the overarching GC Strategy and growth targets. Ensure that all GC Innovations and RD activities are targeted towards successful and sustainable business activities. Develop new service products and associated business propositions based on existing delivery platforms through innovative business and commercial packaging. Increase profitability and customer satisfaction by improving current services and increasing their efficiency managing services from initial concept, through the initial and detailed design phases, to eventual withdrawal from the service portfolio. Manage the overall service portfolio, eliminating duplication and describing services in a consistent manner. Support Marketing and Business Winning in the creation of targeted sales collateral. Accountable to the Executive Director, this role is responsible for the leadership of the service creation team, to accomplish the following The creation and agreement of business case for each new GC service product. This will require effective crossworking with business winning and business delivery to ensure that Service Creation, Business Winning and Business Development objectives are all achieved through the appropriate handover of responsibilities and mutual cooperation. Each business case and the company performance against it will be owned and, if necessary, updated by Service Creation throughout the lifetime of the Service Product. The identification, creation or harnessing of the market service needs to filter and then develop the most attractive ideas into service products in order to fulfil identified customer requirements and to generate revenue and profit. The planning and maintenance of each GC Service Product through its lifecycle, which will include any rollout, by auditing and reporting to ensure the approved Business Case ROI is achieved. The management of any Service Technical Refresh Budget that has been assigned as part of any Investment or Customer proposal. The creation and maintenance of a service product roadmap that is in complete alignment with the Operating Plan, the GC Strategy and the Technology Roadmap. The creation and maintenance of the GC service portfolio, with crossworking with Business Winning and Strategy and Marketing to ensure that sales and marketing collateral are developed according to the business needs. This includes liaison with Business Communications and other parts of EADS to align service offerings. Managing and developing the Service Creation team and providing the required levels of guidance and strategic leadership for all services currently in development phases or in service. Ensuring that each SPLM is supported in delivering their projects by securing, or supporting requests for, adequate GC and panAstrium Servces resource including for example Project Management expertise, Capex funding, CTO expertise, etc. Seeking out and managing industry relationships and agreements required to develop andor deliver the service products in line with the relevant company procedures for procurement and partnering. Developing the skills and talents within the service creation team. To ensure the team is correctly resourced to achieve the Service Creation objectives and that succession planning is in place. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Degree qualified or equivalent experience. Extensive experience in Government including Defence Telecommunication services. Experience in Milsatcom or similar high assurance service is desirable. Extensive experience in Service and System architectures in telecommunications. Experience of commercial modelling and business planning including understanding of the key drivers for successful business cases. Financial awareness associated with service delivery projects. Evidence of international exposure working with overseas customers and partners especially Government including Defence.
