CDC: 172 people on cruise fell ill with norovirus

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that 172 people on the Crown Princess arriving in California on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014 have fallen ill with the highly contagious norovirus during a nearly monthlong trip.

CDC Orders $2.7 Million in Ebola-Specific Personal Protective Equipment

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ordered $2.7 million in personal protective equipment to increase the supply available to U.S. hospitals caring for Ebola patients. The CDC said its supply of PPE will be configured into kits that can be delivered quickly to hospitals that need them.

The vaccine, to combat the virus that has killed thousands in West Africa, combines a shot from Johnson & Johnson's Janssen unit in the Netherlands with one developed by Danish biotechnology company Bavarian Nordic, J&J said.

After months of denial, CDC quietly admits Ebola can spread through aerosolized droplets

Common sense is finally breaking through with regard to the spread of Ebola, despite conflicting information by our nation's public health agencies. After repeatedly denying that Ebola can in any way spread through the air, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has now quietly admitted that it actually can, with the release of a new poster that says "droplets" can spread the disease.
