FCC eyes $105 million fine for Sprint over phone bill 'cramming'

U.S. wireless carrier Sprint Corp is expected to face a $105 million fine from the Federal Communications Commission in coming weeks over unauthorized charges on customers' cellphone bills, a practice known as cramming, according to FCC officials. FCC commissioners are reviewing and will soon vote on the proposed fine over charges Sprint's consumers faced for services they never requested, FCC sources said.
Pohlads sell Marquette Financial for $182 million

The deal would give Marquette Financial's owners, the Pohlad family, a 7 percent ownership stake in Kansas City-based UMB Financial . They'll have the second largest individual stake, behind only UMB Financial Corp. Chairman Mariner Kemper who controls voting in an 11.58 percent stake in the company.

Alstom SA is close to settling a bribery case with the U.S. Justice Department for $700 million , a person close to the matter said on Tuesday, in what would be the largest criminal fine levied by the United States for foreign bribery. A top Justice Department official said in a speech last month that Alstom executives along with Japanese partner Marubeni Corp for many years engaged in a scheme to pay millions of dollars in bribes to a high ranking member of the Indonesian parliament and other Indonesian officials in exchange for help in securing a $118 million contract in Indonesia.
