Verizon furthers copper-to-fiber replacement strategy in 4 states

Verizon continues to make progress with its copper-to-fiber migration strategy. The service provider, according to a series of FCC filings, is retiring copper network facilities in White Plains, N.Y., Pittsburgh, Falls Church, Va., and Providence, R.I. Similar to other markets like New York City , when the migration is completed Verizon will no longer offer services over copper wires and maintain those facilities.

Slabtown Sewer Replacement Project: Survey Work Expected in October

Environmental Services is designing a sewer replacement project in the Slabtown district in northwest Portland. This project will replace and upsize the public sewers in streets, repair laterals that connect properties to the sewer system, replace stormwater inlets and inlet pipes, and repair several manholes throughout the project area. The neighborhood-wide project will increase sewer system capacity and protect water quality and the environment.

FAA issues grant for replacement airport in North Dakota.

FAA announced $27 million Airport Improvement Program grant to the City of Williston, ND to purchase land to build a new airport and meet growing aviation demand by replacing Sloulin Field International Airport. Oil drilling operations have increased Williston’s population as well as passenger traffic, corporate aviation activity, and cargo operations at Sloulin Field. Expected to open in 2018, new airport will be called Williston Basin International with XWA as 3-letter airport identifier.
