Telefonica renews Champions League broadcast rights until 2024

(Telecompaper) Telefonica has again acquired the exclusive Spanish rights to continue broadcasting the UEFA Champions League, Europe's biggest annual football competition, for another three years, confirming earlier reports. The new deal encompasses three seasons from 2021 to 2024 and also covers the Europa League, Super Cup, Youth League and Europa Conference League, a continental competition set to debut in September 2021.

Telefonica, Atresmedia unveil joint content production studio Buendia

(Telecompaper) Telefonica and commercial broadcaster Atresmedia have announced the official launch of their joint project to create and produce Spanish language content for distribution around the world after receiving the approval of European Commission antitrust authorities. The 50-50 joint venture will be called Buendia Estudios and will be run by Atresmedia general director Ignacio Corrales. It will be above all aimed at boosting each company's ability to promote Spanish and Latin American talent throughout the world, producing premium content for third parties and creating partnerships and co-productions with other companies in the sector.

(Telecompaper) Telefonica and Google Cloud have announced an agreement to expand their existing cloud and cybersecurity partnership to meet the growing technology needs of Spanish businesses, boost the country's digital transformation and post-Covid-19 economic recovery as well as advancing 5G mobile edge computing. As part of the new agreement, Google revealed that it intends to open a new Spanish cloud region in Madrid using Telefonica's infrastructure.
