Space Applications Services performs and supports system and software engineering for the European Space Agency ESA, National Space Agencies and the aerospace industry. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Software Engineer Knowledge ManagementEarth Observations SDSSAJOBEOS203 Tasks and Responsibilities You will join the Earth Observation Systems EOS Team that develops complex software systems combining state of the art technologies from the Earth Observation EO, Geographic Information Systems GIS, and Knowledge Management KM domains. The team frequently works with international partners. You will be responsible for the design and development of semanticallyenabled distributed applications that allow for searching for EO products and navigating in Linked Open Data LOD in a seamless manner. The client interface will run on mobile devices and implement novel user interaction techniques. The work will be performed in our offices in Zaventem Brussels and may require short international travels for meetings. Qualifications and Experience For this position you must have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, e.g. Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering. The following are mandatory for the position 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of distributed systems implemented in Java. Experience with the software development lifecycle Competent in writing highquality software project documentation in English. Good knowledge of Linux systems as a user and administrator. Knowledge andor experience in one or more of the following is required Semantic Web technologies and tools e.g. RDF, OWL, SKOS, SPARQL, LOD, CKAN. Knowledge Management techniques and tools e.g. NLP, WSD, GATE, Lucene, OpenNLP. Android programming in Java, Android SDK, and Eclipse Android Developer Tools ADT. Knowledge of OGC standards, ISO Geographic Information standards, GIS related techniques and tools is an advantage. Assistant Controller Administrator in Earth Observations

For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for an Assistant Controller Administrator, who will give support within the Earth Observation Directorate primarily in the MetOpSG project. Heshe will support the Programme Manager in managing the programmes internal project structures followup of project milestones in liaison with projects leaders integrate and provide overview of resource requirements interface with the project controller as required. Tasks and Responsibilities Coordinate with and act as backup for Administrative Assistant to MetOp and Sentinel5 projects Develop and maintain the integrated planning of the programme resources and calendar Build up and maintain an office internal documentation system Integrate all actions for the programme into a single action item list and ensure that the actions are being discharged in coherence with established procedures Act as a point of contact for all documentationadministrative tools e.g. DMS, RID system, action item database, etc. used in the programme Data collection and extraction from various Corporate applications e.g. SAP, PRISMA and from various internal sources and data consistency checking and coherence analysis Prepare and assist in producing financial and programmatic status reporting as required Assist in the preparation of project audits if and when required Support users for retrieval of documents from local DMS, DMSs from external partners andor industry, out of paper archives, other sources like ESTEC library, scanned documents on CDROM or via internet, etc. Related support to project reviews Compile the inputs from the responsible contributors for monthly reports and Quarterly Status Reports, for review and finalisation by the Programme Manager Write the minutes of the internal management meetings, integrating the various inputs from the team leads End to end responsibility for the management of promotional items linked to launch campaigns and ESA missions need assessment up to definition of distribution in close coordination with the respective external project managers Tasks related to documentation management, distributionregistration of mail and documents Analyse incoming correspondence and documentation and manage distribution of outgoing correspondence and documentation Provision of various logistic support to the programme Daytoday support to Unit personnel regarding travel arrangements, leave management, coordination of training Dealing with incoming telephone calls and information requests Organisation of agenda and of meetings Room and resource bookings for meetings andor events falling under the responsibility of the Unit The Contractor is expected to be or become familiar with the Agencys internal informatics tool needed for the conduct of hisher tasks. Experience and education Proficient in MS Office packages with experience of high level Project Administration Knowledge of ESA administrative and financial processes is a definite advantage Highly proficient in modern planning and project control tools, office automation software and databases, such as MS Office including Excel Experience with SAP is an advantage Excellent planning and organisation skills and attention to detail Good communication skills Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule Initiative and motivation to perform to high standards in a demanding environment Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the outside world Fluent in the English language spoken and written. Knowledge of another European language is an asset. University Degree in Business Administration and at least 2 years of working experience in the field. US - USDA is back up and running but, as can be seen from today’s North American Pork Industry and Competing Meats tables, it will be another week before we have the normal complement of supply and price data. Further, we may not get data for the two missing weeks at all. USDA has not been too clear on those items yet but should provide more details this week, writes Steve Meyer in his "Market Preview" published in National Hog Farmer magazine.
