Tasks and Responsibilities The holder of the abovementioned position will support ESAESTECs Directorate of Technical and Quality Management TEC in the maintenance, operations, and evolution of the Directorates Management Information Systems. This includes updates andor development of new applications and databases covering the following business needs Planning, controlling and reporting of activities or programmes Planning, controlling and reporting budget and financial resources Resource management, manpower planning, time recording charging, etc. Data Warehouse concepts ExtractTransformLoad applications to support reporting and business intelligence needs. The work will be divided into the following tasks. Task 1 Application Development Support product owners in producing software requirements and implement the requirements for the software product into an architecture design and a software design, following best software engineering practices and in agreement with ESA. Establish a software development methodology and document the architectural design and software design. Establish and maintain development, testing and production environments suitable to install and execute source code components. Document and execute tests for each software unit and integrated software component ensuring that it satisfies its requirements and document the results. Document and establish a deployment plan in agreement with ESA before each software rollout. Provide a user manual and an operations and maintenance manual for each standalone software product developed. Task 2 Application Maintenance and Operations Perform corrective maintenance in response to user reported problems for applications. Software Problem Reports raised by the users, the successful applicant shall take immediate action to find and implement the solution in the shortest possible time. Define the criteria for software problem bug criticality. Define the criteria for bug reporting, fixing and deployment in production environment. Establish and maintain a software configuration control and operational plan. Task 3 Application and User Support Provide a first line of support to the user community to Provide assistance to the user community in the technical and functional use of the applications under the successful candidates responsibility. Address requests related to applications and products out of his scope to the relevant support groups in ESA. Provide second line support guaranteeing specialized competencies in all the applications in scope. Provide training on request to the user community for all the applications in scope. Log all the requests received either by phone or by email, from and sent to customers in the ticketing system and perform all the necessary tasks to resolve the problem remotely either by phone or via email in customer priority order. Provide expert advice regarding current system functionality 1. for manipulation of the database e.g. generation of specific script for data upload, application configuration, etc. 2. for configuration request at database level. Requirements The successful candidate will bring a PhD or Msc Engineering from a recognised Institute of secondary studies or equivalent and minimum 4 years of experience in the tasks similar to the ones described above.
