Summary We are therefore looking for a motivated and talented engineer to work alongside one of our most senior engineers within the EPSSG onsite our customer EUMETSAT. Responsibilities Duties You will be involved in the overall system aspects with a strong focus on the general system design aspects and system interfaces. Your work will cover the space segement and the ground segment, consisting of the data acquisition systems, monitoring and control system MCS, data processing facilities and product dessemination facilities. Typically your tasks will cover System ICD design and maintenance Coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers Define and maintain the system Interface documentation and baseline, e.g. Inferface Control Documents ICD, Interface Management Plans IMP, Interface Requirements Documents IRD. Implementation of any changes to the system model related with system interfaces design and maintenance General system engineering activities with contribution to Analysis and trade off activities System requirement maintenance activities Documentation of system design and justification Ad hoc EUMETSAT internal reviews System level formal revies system CDR Ground segement level activites as required Preparation and execution of IVV activities Last, but not least you will also be tasked to organise and hold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish and maintain interface details agreements. Qualifications Experience You should hold a University or similar degree in engineering. You have already worked in the in the field of engineering of space andor ground systems in the area of Earth Observation Satellites for some years Essential Skills You are able to analyse systems from an endtoend perspective combined space and ground segment? You are able to understand relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects and to present the results in a comprehensible way? You have been working on system requirements and design documents and you were tasked on the past to document system interfaces for complex satellite systems? Desirable Skills In order to ease up your start on this position, the following experience would be additional assets Familiarity with EUMETSAT data dissemination concepts Experience with DOORS Experience with ViTechs CORE modelling tool.

For our customer in Darmstadt we are looking for a System Interface Engineer to support the forthcoming EPSSG European Polar System Second Generation Earth observation mission. Our customer EUMETSAT is an independent intergovernmental organisation founded in 1986 to establish maintain and exploit European systems of operational meteorological satellites and to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. A further objective of EUMETSAT is to provide data, products and support services to the European Copernicus information services and user communities, with a focus on marine, atmosphere and climate. EUMETSAT is governed by a Council representing 30 Member States and 1 Cooperating State. The EPSSG System Engineer will be supporting the EUMETSATs Low Earth Orbit Division LEO in the field of system engineering. Heshe will be contributing to the phase CD system engineering activities related to the specification, design and development of the EPSSG system with focus on satellite and operational related aspects within the system. The activities will primarily include overall system aspects involving the space segment satellites and the ground segment, consisting of data acquisition systems, monitoring and control systems, as well as data processing facilities and product dissemination facilities. Capability to prepare system requirements and design documents, and to document system interfaces for complex satellite systems. Experience with CORE modelling tool The key person shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks without supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Tasks To ensure continuity of the core missions supported by the current EPSMetop system and to fulfil complementary user needs a followup programme EPSSG is currently being prepared by EUMETSAT. EPSSG is an approved mandatory programme. EPSSG will be based on a twosatellite configuration with the launch of the first satellite MetopSG A in mid2021 followed by the second satellite MetopSG B 18 months later. EPSSG will be the second generation of EUMETSATs polar system and as such will have a strong heritage from the existing EPS with its Metop satellites and operations, and from other elements of the EUMETSAT infrastructure in support of current programmes.
