Lenovo lifts revenues, profits in Q3, boosted by first profit at Motorola

(Telecompaper) Lenovo said revenues for its fiscal third quarter to end December reached their highest level in four quarters, boosted by a higher pre-tax profit at Mobile Business Group (MBG), its first time since the acquisition of Motorola, and a strong performance at all major business groups. Revenues for the group lifted 8 percent from the year before to USD 14.035 billion. The operating profit meanwhile leaped 112 percent to USD 434 million, while the pre-tax profit more than doubled to USD 350 million from 150 million and the net result strengthened to a gain of USD 233 million from a loss of 289 million. Diluted earnings per share went to 1.92 cents, from a loss of 2.53 cents.

Lenovo, Verizon to Reincarnate Motorola Razr as Foldable Smartphone: Report

The Motorola Razr -- once the hottest flip phone available -- is being revived as a smartphone with a foldable screen, according to reports. It will be offered exclusively through Verizon in the United States, possibly in February, although the device is still being tested and the launch date is not firm. Its starting price reportedly will be $1,500.

Lenovo expands home hub range with Google smart clock, Alexa smart tabs

The tablets come with a docking station and Amazon's Alexa digital assistant to turn them into a smart display and speaker in the home. In addition, Lenovo presented the Smart Clock with Google Assistant, a similar product designed to work as a home hub.

Lenovo quarterly profits up as Motorola reaches breakeven

(Telecompaper) Lenovo reported a strong improvement in results for its fiscal second quarter, supported by a return to breakeven at Motorola and continued growth in the PC business. Group revenue reached USD 13.4 billion, up 14 percent year-over-year, and operating profit more than tripled, to USD 290 million from USD 88 million a year ago. The net profit increased 21 percent to USD 168 million, and Lenovo proposed a stable interim dividend of HKD 0.06 per share.
