AT&T announces new financial growth targets to calm shareholder concerns

(Telecompaper) AT&T has announced new financial targets for the coming three years, following pressure from shareholders such as Elliott Management to rethink its strategy. The aim is to grow revenues 1-2 percent per year, improve margins through cost savings and divest more assets in order to boost free cash flow and shareholder returns while reducing debt. While two new directors will be appointed in the next two years, AT&T maintained its commitment to Randall Stephenson as CEO, who will stay on through 2020 at least.

AT&T U.S. down 1,358k; Vrio down 167k video subs in 3Q 2019

AT&T (NYSE:T) has reported results for the third quarter of 2019. Total U.S. video subscribers were down 1.358 million in the quarter with AT&T TV NOW accounting for 195,000 of the losses. For Vrio in Latin America, net subscribers also declined, by 167,000.

(Telecompaper) AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile US and Verizon have taken the first steps to modernise SMS texts to GSMA's Rich Communications Service (RCS) industry standard. The three operators have created a new joint venture called the Cross Carrier Messaging Initiative (CCMI) that will bring this next generation of messaging to consumers and businesses. The venture will develop and deploy first with Android, probably next year, together with other companies in the RCS ecosystem.

AT&T gives boost to personalised ads with acquisition of data-driven ad platform Clypd

(Telecompaper) AT&T has bought Clypd, a data-driven TV advertising platform for broadcast and cable TV networks. The operations will become part of the carrier's Xandr ad business, and in particular Xandr Monetize, and help push more personalised ads for its streaming services. AT&T said Clypd will help the company improve the converged buying and selling for its streaming video services, help programmers automate advertisers through private or open market places, and create tools for a better yield. Marketers for example, will be able to Clypd's platform to define campaign targets and measure the performance of their campaigns.
