China to launch final satellites for own Beidou GPS system by June

(Telecompaper) China said it will be launching the final two satellites for its Beidou satellite-based positioning system by June, the Nikkei reported, citing a Beidou spokesperson. The move will complete the 35-satellite network and enable China to decouple itself from the US-owned Global Positioning System and its 30 satellites. The move is in line with China's goal to rely less on the US for both its telecommunications and its military and to build an ecosystem independent of the GPS that would be open to Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. Over 70 percent of Chinese smartphones are already compatible with Beidou, which will also play a role in 5G.

Implementation of engineering activities for IV campaigns, including o The definition of VCDs, IV plans and test specifications and procedures o Coordination or follow up of Integration activities o Coordination or follow up of Verification activities o Contribution to validation activities Implementation of engineering activities for the execution of Integration and Verification campaigns performing the corresponding integration and verification testing activities according to the agreed plans Contribution to Validation Activities support EUMETSAT on the validation of systems when performing the corresponding validation test campaigns. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have skills and experience of at least 3 years in System Engineering, including IV engineering. You have knowledge of Systems Engineering and architectural design for data processing systems, MMEs and ground segment systems You are capable to prepare system requirements and design documents, and to perform systemlevel analyses for complex satellitebased systems You have experience of writing technical requirements preferably to ECSS standards You have experience of interface management and definition You are familiar with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition You are capable to prepare and manage ICD You are able to use of modelling and design languages for System Engineering e.g. SysML and tools in support of architectural design activities e.g.Enterprise Architect You have knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software lifecycles and standards You have experience in definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS You have experience in Integration, Verification and Validation IVV of complex systems You have experience in operational environments under strict configuration management rules You have experience in maintenance of ground system and associated anomaly management process You have experience in change control procedures You possess knowledge and experience in the following two mandatory domains o System engineering and IVV for Ground Segment and subsegment levels o Data processing. You have experience knowledge of o Automated Testing o Requirements and verification management using DOORS o Scripting languages in a Linux environment o Programming languages CC, Java, Javascript, XML, Perl, TclTk o Operating systems UNIXLinux and Windows o Relational databases MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL o Networking Internet protocols, TCPIP programming, network monitoring.
