This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. System Engineer 1820024 Job Description We are looking for a System Engineer for our client EUMETSAT. You will contribute to activities typically related to Phase CD of a space programme in the area of system design engineering, Integration, Verification and Validation, Operation preparation and performance budget management. You will provide service to the Sentinel6JasonCS project, with potential support to other LEO programmes. Your system engineering activities will include Justification of the system design including producing and maintaining any relevant analyses and budgets General contribution to system engineering activities, for example Documentation of system design and interfaces Contribute to system integration, verification and validation activities Contribute to operation preparation activities Contribute to the technical coordination with Partners Contribute to segment level activities and reviews as required Participate to System level formal reviews and key points. Required Skills and Experience A university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks without supervision. At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of large scale systems engineering, architectural design and system preparation for launch Demonstrated ability to analyse systems from an endtoend perspective Capability to prepare documents, to perform systemlevel analyses and to produce and maintain technical budgets. Travel within Europe and to the USA may be required for certain activities. Ground Segment System Engineer 1821022 Job Description We are looking for a Ground Segment System Engineer for our client EUMETSAT. You shall contribute to maintaining the overall system design documentation of the operational systems. When evolutions of these systems are proposed and implemented, you shall analyse them and verify the system and interfaces coherence. In the role of support to the maintenance and evolution activities of the operational programmes, your tasks shall include Contribute to the maintenance, for all the operational ground systems, of a complete and consistent set of System Technical Documentation. Perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification evolutions or major upgrades of the operational ground systems, for interfaces coherence and compatibility check with other ongoing developments. Define the IV V testing approach for major evolutions of the operational ground systems and contribute to the coordination of the installation, integration and verification of new systems into the Operational infrastructure. Contribute to the various OPS TSS Projects and associated reviews, as required, providing System Engineering support during the design phase and contribute actively to the definition of the IV V activities. Perform analysis, investigations and resolution of system level anomalies. Provide expert inputs to the SEP System Engineering Team Leader on all related activities as requested. Support the OPS regular coordination processes, including CRBs and ARBs, as requested. You will also support services to the development of new GEO and LEO programmes, where your tasks will include Participate to the definition of the system architecture and interfaces between the multimission elements and the programme specific elements of the ground system. In coordination with the system and interface engineers of the future ground segment, ensure that the definition and documentation of new interfaces are compatible with the methodology used in Operations this includes the use of common templates for Interface Control Document and the use of the same tool for maintaining the interfaces data dictionary. Provide support to the definition of the IV V approach for the future ground systems. Required Skills and Experience A university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. Extensive experience in the analysis of systems applications and modelling At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of systems engineering and architectural design Strong background in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. Vitech CORE, Enterprise Architect Sound knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software lifecycles and standards Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering methods, techniques and tools Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation IV V of complex systems In addition, for the accomplishment of the listed tasks, proven knowledge and experience in the following of at least two of the following areas Satellite monitoring and control systems including Flight Dynamics and SC Simulator aspects Data processing Dissemination Archive systems Ground Stations Travel within Europe may be necessary. The work covers the following technical domains Launch System AIT definition and control of measurement plans in test requirements and execution, definition of technical specifications for the procurement of specific ground measurement acquisition and storage equipment. Electrical interfaces schematics integration and analysis, electrical performances analyses e.g. power supply transient and steadystate analyses, measurement accuracy, others. System EMC verifications groundingbonding quality measurement, CECS, RERS. Realtime systems modelling, analysis, specification and troubleshooting. Computers for realtime onboard applications, both as selfcontained units and as embedded items in subsystem equipment. The work includes system design for faulttolerant computer systems, component design and development, operating systems, and identification of tools and methods for dependable specification, design and testing. Data systems for onboard data communication, spacecraft system operation under ground control and with onboard autonomy, groundonboard data communication, and for manned spaceflight crew informatics and interfaces. This includes data system standards and specific software, e.g. data communication software. Data storage, i.e. onboard solidstate mass memory systems, including architecture, components, interfaces, packaging technologies, and operational usage. Electronic design essentially for the implementation of digital functions related to onboard data systems. Payload data acquisition and processing chains, including digital and image processing techniques and devices. Specific tasks A diverse range of support tasks is required to be carried out within the above tasks, encompassing hardware, software and system aspects in support to the Ariane 6 project. These can be grouped within the following main headings Definition of technical specifications for the procurement of HWSW items. Evaluation of verification analyses and reports. Participation in reviews and meetings. Overseeing the Launch System Combined Tests and Launch Campaign qualification tasks. Requeriments Knowledge of electrical systems architectures of a launch system. Knowledge of TTE protocol and its implementation. Knowledge of main serial data exchange protocols and endtoend wired measurement chains. Understanding of main Launch System RF communications. Experience in equipment procurement, subsystems integration and testing. Experience in spacecraft project support in particular related to spacecraft data handling. Knowledge of the space environment, related standards and space quality requirements.
