Your Mission DLR GfR mbH is a company providing reliable, safe and secure aerospace services. As a core team member of the Galileo Service Operator GSOp, DLR GfR mbH operates and manages the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen in Germany GCCD. The GSOp contract foresees a staggered approach for the implementation of the L2 and L3 maintenance of the Galileo Ground Infrastructure GMS, GCS, GSC, GSMC, with increasing level of responsibility passed from the relevant Design Authority to GSOp, according to maturity level of the Ground Segment deployed. To support this transition, DLR GfR is looking for a highly motivated system architect capable to evolve autonomously and willing to take on new challenges. Your Responsibilities Strategy Planning Designing and implementing short and longterm strategic goals for the handover and maintenance of systems and software Managing surveys of the new technologies and update the technical roadmap as necessary Organizing or supporting technical tradeoffs when new architecture solution or new technology have to be selected Providing expertise and architectural assistance to other personnel including developers, analysts, maintainers and operators System Evolutions Reviewing the new system designs and making recommendations regarding its operability and maintainability Defining and monitoring the implementation of Galileo Ground Infrastructure minor evolutions Managing handover activities between software development and software maintenance entities Participating in the acceptance process of assets and deliverables, including audits and verification activities Acquisition Deployment Designing, creating and monitoring the implementation of endtoend integrated maintenance environments for Galileo systems Reviewing new and existing system designs and making recommendations for improving, automating or altering the systems Providing technical support to the negotiation of vendor and consultant contracts Skill requirements Master in engineering or equal certificates Fluent in English in reading, writing and spoken language Several years of experience in Software design and development Firmwareembedded systems design and developmentCommunications system development or Integration and verification of complex software systems Solid understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices of information technology, including practical handson knowledge of distributed realtime computing system architecture and design Knowledge of integrated logistics support activities, such as reliability engineering, maintainability engineering, maintenance and logistics Knowledge of the tools of the trade Software configuration management tools, Scripting and coding languages, Computer servers DNS, file servers, mail servers, NAS, Network switches, VPN and Network analyzers, Virtualized environments Knowledge of navigation ground segment such as Egnos or Galileo Experience providing guidance and leadership to novice systems engineers Knowledge in the areas of cyber security, encryption or authentication is an asset

Tasks and Responsibilities Support the definition and development of the EndtoEnd E2E Mission Performance Simulators for future EO missions Contributing to ensure the technical coherency and completeness of the simulation of the observation system, including, as needed, functional analysis, system level budgeting, system performance analyses, modelling of spacecraft andor payload subsystems and related data processing to meet system and mission requirements Install and use those E2E simulators on the EOPSF IT infrastructure for mission performance evaluation and system tradeoffs for future EO missions Ensure a consistent evolution and maintenance of the E2E simulators and a proper configuration and storage of the relevant inputoutput data sets Initiate and support work in the area of modelling of system or subsystem aspects spacecraft, payload, ground processing for E2E simulators and System Engineering Tools Support the development of generic building blocks and modules, and aim at maximum synergy and reuse of those building blocks and modules from one E2E simulator to the next making use of ESA OpenSF infrastructure httpeopcfi.esa.intindex.phpopensf Participate to the development of System Engineering Tools for preliminary analysis and sizing of future EO missions Use the above System Engineering Tools for system tradeoffs, preliminary sizing and performance evaluation of future EO missions. Tasks and Responsibilities Launch System AIT definition and control of measurement plans in test requirements and execution, definition of technical specifications for the procurement of specific ground measurement acquisition and storage equipment Electrical interfaces schematics integration and analysis, electrical performances analyses e.g. power supply transient and steadystate analyses, measurement accuracy, others System EMC verifications groundingbonding quality measurement, CECS, RERS Realtime systems modelling, analysis, specification and troubleshooting Computers for realtime onboard applications, both as selfcontained units and as embedded items in subsystem equipment The work includes system design for faulttolerant computer systems, component design and development, operating systems, and identification of tools and methods for dependable specification, design and testing Data systems for onboard data communication, spacecraft system operation under ground control and with onboard autonomy, groundonboard data communication, and for manned spaceflight crew informatics and interfaces.
