(Telecompaper) General Motors (GM) has announced a USD 2.25 billion investment from the SoftBank Vision Fund into its self-driving unit GM Cruise. The unit is planning to launch driverless fleet next year. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.Meanwhile, Waymo is planning to buy 62,000 more Fiat Chrysler (FCA) cars for its driverless robotaxi service, with delivery expected late this year.
LG Chem to supply batteries for Chrysler's minivan

Feb 22 South Korea's LG Chem said on Monday it will supply electric vehicle batteries to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV from late this year and that the orders were worth hundreds of millions of dollars. LG Chem said it will produce batteries for the plug-in hybrid version of Chrysler Pacifica minivans at its factory in Michigan.

U.S. auto safety regulators have determined that only infotainment centers from Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles had a security flaw that could allow hackers to take control of Jeeps and several other model cars and trucks. After a five-month investigation into cyberhacking vulnerabilities, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said only FCA vehicles, and no others, were vulnerable to the hack.
