We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Power Conditioning Engineer ENGSERVPCE201403 Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC Noordwijk, The Netherlands. You will provide power conditioning support to studies and approved ESA projects, including payload equipment. You will have the following responsibilities Design, development and test of spacecraft power systems for onboard applications Development of simulation blocks for system analysis batteries, solar cells arrays, power control and distribution units Support to laboratory activities concerning design and development or verification of circuits for power management and distribution Active involvement in critical RD activities support Assisting to the development and validation of worst case simulation blocks for electrical equipment analysis converters, shunt regulators, current limiters, protections, critical telemetry or telecommand functions The development and verification of high voltage design technologies and associated power converters. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Applicants should have a university degree or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or physics and they should have experience in the development of power electronics. Furthermore, candidates should have following experience and skills Strong electrical power processing background, together with a good experience of digital and analogue electronics and control theory Experience in the domain of power conditioning electronics together, with hands on knowledge of the circuit design of such systems Experience in the development of computer models, especially with SPICEbased simulators Practical knowledge of the impacts of the space environment and interfaces with spacecraft subsystems, and experience with High Voltage power conditioning for space application would be an asset Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Encompasses, definition of centralised power systems with overall power levels up to 25 kilowatts, their interfaces, with respect to solar arrays and batteries, the attendant power distributionprotection equipments and pyrotechnic activation functions. The development and verification of high voltage design technologies and associated power converters, suitable for application as Electronic Power Conditioners, EPCs, for specialized spacecraft payloads such as Travelling Wave Tube Assemblies, TWTAs, and Electric Propulsion Concepts. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a PhD or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Physics. You require a good electrical power processing background, together with experience of digital and analogue electronics, and control theory. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Engineer, good team work and communication skills. Essential skills Experience in the development of computer models, especially with SPICEbased simulators.
