One of our space clients in Germany is looking for an AIX System Engineer to work in the Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division Computer and Storage Management team, supporting the different phases of computer system infrastructures. The role would ideally suit a contractor looking for a long term consultancy role within the space industry. The submission deadline for applicants is 16th November 2015. As a member of the Computer Systems Management team, the key person shall provide support to all Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations. The duties range from the support to the operation of the AIX Linux based ground segment facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of distributed hardware and system software platforms. This includes the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. Experience The key person shall have extensive experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems. The experience should have been made in an operational or production environment, characterized by custom applications in addition to standard software, running both on the client and server side, and by high availability requirements. Technical skills, experience knowledge The key person shall have an expert knowledge and a significant work experience of the AIX operating systems, and should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks. Proven knowledge and at least 3 years handson experience with the following is mandatory On Power Systems very good experience on operating systems AIX 6.1 7.1 and IBM virtualization, including MicroPartitioning, LPAR, VIOS. Administration and configuration of IBM pSeries using HMC and AMM. IT System design skills. Definition, implementation, testing and documentation of endtoend system changes. Preparation of technical documentation in English in a complete and clear manner. In addition, experience in the installation, administration and troubleshooting on some of the following shall be considered as an advantage Distributed File System GPFS. High availability software IBM PowerHA. PowerVC. Experience with the monitoring tools based on Nagios. VMWare Virtualization. It is also an advantage if the key person can carry out basic hardware support like installing interface cards or physically setting up networks. Good English skills are essential.
