LEO Mission Planning Consultancy Support

This job position is for our customer EUMETSAT. The Key person shall perform tasks related to all aspects of mission planning for the routine operation of all EUMETSATs LEO missions. These tasks include Performing routine weekly or biweekly and contingency scheduling tasks using the mission planning facility Performing preventative maintenance of the mission planning facility according to working practice, generally by running system checks to spot any system anomalies or errors Raising anomaly reports when necessary and monitoring their resolution through attendance at appropriate review boards. Supplying context and initial analyses that may aid the investigation of anomalies Responding to mission planning related anomalies and operational contingencies promptly Maintenance of mission planning documentation such as the user guide document and the operational implementation document Liaising with external entities where necessary in order to fulfil joint operations requirements. Maintaining documentation concerning this Maintaining a detailed understanding of the space and ground segment operational needs that are met through mission planning. Through regular liaison with space and ground segment experts, implementing, testing and documenting new or modified operational needs that are met through mission planning Performing the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of the mission planning operational implementation for all missions, in all mission phases. The mission planning operational implementation resides in a relational database and associated business rule management system, and is used to generate schedules related to satellite payload mission planning Rolling out of new versions of the mission planning operational implementation following approved configuration management procedures Contributing to the definition of any changes to the supplied mission planning application software or to inhouse supporting software that could lead to performance andor ergonomics improvements. Contributing to the process of implementing such changes, and liaising with any external contractors that may be performing the changes Contributing to the definition and raising of Engineering Change Proposals and Change Requests concerning mission planning, and attending ECP Review Board meetings if necessary Contributing to the operational validation of new versions of the MPF application software, including testing of ARNCR correction and new functionality. This may include FAT or OSAT attendance Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews long term scheduling, schedule consolidation, anomaly review boards, etc Training of personnel in Mission Planning oncall and routine scheduling tasks as required In the scope of EPS only, performing routine scheduling tasks at the BUCC, Madrid in support of periodic or emergency activations, as defined within the Mission Planning team In the scope of EPS only, managing and monitoring schedule execution on all ground segments on a daily basis and responding to anomalies and operational contingencies promptly In the scope of Copernicus Sentinel3 only, performing the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of the MPS rules and constraints file in collaboration with the Flight Control Team In the scope of Copernicus Sentinel3 only, maintaining an understanding of the SCOS 2000 MCS Working Operational Database, in which the linkage between Sequences Requests and telecommands is defined Providing mission planning support to other operational missions or future missions as required. PROFILE In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Consultant shall have at least 3 years experience of low earth orbit LEO spacecraft and ground segment system operations. The following experience is required At least 3 years of routine mission planning operations At least 3 years experience in the production and maintenance of mission planning operational rules using a Javalike Business Rules Management System e.g. JBoss Drools or ILOG Rules At least 2 years of working with files in XML format Experience in the operational validation of mission planning software systems Experience with Software Version Control Systems e.g. CVS, SVN or Git and Software Configuration Management Systems e.g. Serena Dimensions. The following experience would be advantageous At least 2 years working with relational databases and sql, preferably involving Oracle database administration At least 2 years of LinuxUnix operating system administration At least 1 year of software development in C, with knowledge of Oracle database access using ProC advantageous. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. Job Description The consultant will be integrated into the MTG MOF Team. The tasks of the Consultant will typically include During the remaining procurement phase Supporting the MTG ground segment team in following the MTG Mission Planning System MPS and procedure edition and execution tools procurement, Participating in reviews for the MPS, the procedure edition and execution tools, and interfacing facilities, analysing and reviewing relevant MTG documentation, preparing technical notes and attending technical meetings Participating in MPS, procedure edition and execution tools testing e.g. Factory and OnSite Acceptance Testing and related activities at facility and system level. Analysing and reporting on the test results, in particular with respect to their suitability for requirement verification and validation Creation and execution of test procedures on the assigned MOF elements in order to validate their readiness for operational usage Participating in the installation of the MPS, procedure edition and execution tools at EUMETSAT, while fulfilling the configuration management requirements. Verifying the facility installation Defining the Mission Planning, procedure edition and execution tools operational implementation database structures, etc Monitoring and steering the lifecycle for MPS, procedure edition and execution tools related anomaly reports ARs and nonconformance reports NCRs Interacting with internal users, suppliers and partner organisations Maintaining internally generated tools and creation of new internal tools, mainly developed in Java, C and C. The consultant shall have A demonstrated experience in the field of Space Mission Planning of at least 5 years, preferably gained during the specification, development and operation of space systems At least 5 years of practical experience in Mission Planning, procedure edition and execution tools specificationdevelopmentprocurementoperation of a GEO andor a LEO space system At least 5 years of Software technology skills in programming languages such as CCJava on UNIX and MS Windows At least 5 years of experience of routine mission planning operations AIV related activities test procedure generation, requirements verification and validation Practical experience with Software Version Control Systems e.g. CVS, SVN or Git and Software Configuration Management Systems e.g. Serena Dimensions Practical experience with the LinuxUnix operating system user command level Fluency in English.

Support to Mission Analysis and Payload Planning System MAPPS

A Spanish leader company in Aerospace Engineering and Scientific services with more than 45 years of experience working for NASA and 35 years working for ESA seeks a candidate to Support Computer System Engineering Service Work Package SCO0929 Cross mission support service for MAPPS Overview The MAPPS Mission Analysis and Payload Planning System software is a wellestablished tool in support of the Science Operations Centres SOCs of the ESA Solar System missions. The MAPPS software provides a wide range of planning and simulation features, used in the different phases of the planning process for the scientific experiments and the consolidation and conflict resolution of the overall experiments planning. This work package is intended to provide a number of specialised services to support ESA in System and Software Engineering at ESAC for support to the Science Operations Centres SOCs of the current and future ESA missions, currently Rosetta, ExoMars 2016, SolarOrbiter, BepiColombo and JUICE. This support includes the development of planning and simulation tools and in particular of MAPPS, which in use by the MarsExpress and Rosetta missions and is currently being adapted for use by the ExoMars 2016 and Juice missions. This service is for software support to contribute to the maintenance and further evolution of the MAPPS software, as well as to provide firstline support to the SOCs mission planners and scientific users, based at ESAC Madrid. Tasks include Implementation of new MAPPS features as defined by the users of the different Solar System missions, following the priorities set by the MAPPS SRB Software Review Board. Providing the MAPPS software deliveries following the existing maintenance and release procedures. Improving these procedures where needed, also considering the long lifetime of the software. Verification and validation of the software and execution of the test procedures. Further evolution of the test software, e.g. extending the test cases to cover new features and improving the level of automation. Provide firstline user support, e.g. helping the user configuring and using any new features, analysing potential bugs and providing fixes.
