Overview of tasks Support Mission Studies from Phase 0 up to Phase B2CD. Running detector technology development activities and detector pre development activities. In particular, assist in the establishment of requirements and configurations for payload equipment and subsystems involving Solid state lasers. Fibreoptic components. Detectors and focal plane instrumentation. Quantumelectronic devices and systems, including optical atomic clocks. Superconducting devices and sensors. Review and evaluation of technical documentation and design dossiers. Perform analysis and elaborate outline design and configurations. Assist, where appropriate, external and internal testing, verification and evaluation of optoelectronic systems and components, including ground and airborne measurement campaigns. Contribute to the definition, maintenance and use of design, engineering and verification software tools for photonic systems and components. Assist in the calibration of the optical test setup to allow quantitative laser damage tests. Operate the Laser Induced Damage test setup during test sequences. Prepare test samples. Assist in the analysis and interpretation of the test data. Specific qualification requirements Masters Degree in Optical Engineering or Physics with at least 4 years of relevant working experience. Background in detector technologies. Experience with operation and characterization of CCD and CMOS detectors. Experience with Xray detector operation and characterization. Experience with InGaAs and MCT detector operation and characterization. Experience in the design and implementation of new measurement methodssetups. Practical laboratory experience in the design, development and verification of OptoElectronic systems, vacuum technology, numerical measurement analysis and associated engineering software tools e.g. LabView, Matlab, Python. Knowledge of environmental testing of space hardware. Experience with detector Frontend electronics design and development. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
