EU's clothing imports have begun sharply falling from China in the past year, in line with a surge of unit prices in the country. Bangladesh has benefited from the move out of China in a large number of product categories whereas imports have also surged from other Asian countries, however from a much lower level. Our series of comparison tables offer a comprehensive view of EU clothing imports per HS 4-digit category with volume, value and unit price changes, while market shares are also calculated for each major supplying country. US apparel imports have rebounded in the last quarter of 2018, mostly due to a surge of man-made fiber apparel imports boosted by the fall of their export prices. By contrast, cotton apparel imports have been far from surging, due to rising unit values. Wool apparel imports have recovered, whatever the sharp increase of unit prices, as reflected by our detailed analysis of US apparel imports per category. Our series of statistical tables offer a comprehensive view of volume, value and unit value changes, compared with previous quarters and years in 2013-18. Full data are available for downloading into a comprehensive table.
