Frontier Airlines improves complaint rate, climbs out of last place

Frontier Airlines increased its on-time arrival percentage and decreased its complaint rate between April and May, relinquishing the last-place ranking in both categories to ultra-low-cost-carrier rival Spirit Airlines. The Denver-headquartered airline, which aroused a great deal of passenger ire earlier this year after changing to a new online-reservations system and outsourcing its gate staff, reduced its complaint rate in May to 8.2 per every 100,000 enplanements - slightly below April's rate of 8.67 and less than half of March's high-water rate of 15.84 , according to the monthly Air Travel Consumer Report released Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Transportation .

Southwest Airlines: Blown tire forces return to airport
