EU's clothing imports have moved into very different ways in the second quarter and the first half this year, depending on markets. When unit values of clothing imports have surged, like in Spain or the UK, shipments in volume terms have dropped. In France by contrast, lower unit prices have resulted in significantly larger shipments from a year earlier. Our 5-year data from second quarter 2013 reflect long-term trends of European Union clothing markets, offering a comprehensive review of the European Union imports per destination. Our statistical report provides volume, value and unit value changes released in both euro and US$ terms. The full table is available for download.

US apparel imports have stagnated in the first half overall with this average result hiding sharp differences depending on product categories and origins. Suppliers are obviously finding it difficult to further lower their prices with US demand slowing down in volume terms, as a consequence. If China's share is receding, results are very contrasted amid categories whereas other countries like Indonesia are retreating on most segments. Our series of statistical tables offer a comprehensive comparison of volume, value and unit value changes per origin and product category in 1st half 2018. The report also includes a detailed comparison of Chinese price trends vs other origins, through a series of indexes.
