Hawaiian Airlines fined $160k for violating baggage claim rules and false advertising

The U.S. Department of Transportation issued a $160,000 fine against Hawaiian Airlines this week for violations on mishandled baggage reimbursements and promotional fare deals from 2013, which the airline has since corrected. An investigation by the DOT's Office of Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings found that Hawaiian Airlines, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings Inc. only reimbursed customers $30 a day for a maximum of three days for damages from mishandled baggage.
