Apple's slide-to-unlock patent not willfully infringed by Samsung, judge rules
2014-09-10 15:41:30| InfoWorld: Top News
While Samsung Electronics infringed on Apple's slide-to-unlock patent, that infringement was not willful, a U.S. court has ruled. Samsung had asked Judge Lucy Koh of the San Jose division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California to rule that it did not wilfully infringe on the patent. It did so after a jury in May awarded Apple $119.6 million in damages because Samsung infringed some of Apple's patents. Apple got much less than the $2 billion it had asked for though.

The great Internet Slowdown: Join tomorrows protest against the FCCs new net neutrality rules
2014-09-09 16:28:16| Extremetech
Tomorrow, September 10, will mark the first great Internet Slowdown -- a protest by some of the web's largest companies over the FCC and US government's handling of net neutrality. All across the web, on sites such as Reddit, Netflix, and Wordpress, a spinning "loading..." icon will appear, reminding everyone that internet slow lanes -- where some websites load more slowly than others if you don't pay your ISP some extra money -- are a real possibility unless we write to our country's lawmakers now.
