SPECIFIC TASKS Supporting a variety of ESA space missions in the field of realtime embedded software and systems Participating in the full development lifecycle of the mission and onboard software Identifying technical risks and critical areas in the development process while assisting in their resolution Applying the principles of mission safety critical software development across multiple disciplines Providing expert technical support and consultancy to general studies in the field of realtime embedded software systems, flight software systems development and software validation facilities focused on both simulated environments and hardware in the loop. REQUIREMENTS Master degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline. In particular, experience with Modern software engineering methods and tools Realtime embedded software and Real Time Kernels Software development projects and knowledge of all phases of the software development lifecycle Programming languages C, Ada, C andor others Microprocessors such as SPARC LEON, ARM, multicores etc Communication protocols Mil1553, SpaceWire, CAN Software Engineering Standards such as the ECSSEST40C. Knowledge of spacecraft systems would be an advantage. Be able to function as part of a team. Because of the operational nature of the support, a proactive and flexible attitude will be required. Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description The 2nd Generation Galileo Ground Segment will modernise the existing infrastructure and support the enhancement of navigation services through the integration of nextgeneration Galileo satellites. In particular, using a layered architecture, it is planned to operate software services from a common hardware platform. The Ground Segment Deployment Platform will be procured as an Agile Release Train ART using the Scaled Agile Framework SAFe. The G2G Ground Segment Common Platform Engineer will act as business owner to oversee the continued specification, design and development of the Platform, including suitable data management functions. You will report to the Head of the Galileo G2 Ground Segment Management Service and will support the procurement and development of the nextgeneration Ground Segment for Galileo.
