Later this month, Sony will be launching PlayStation Vue in three major US markets. New York, Chicago and Philadelphia will receive access in the next two weeks, and the service will supposedly roll out to the rest of the US later in 2015. We still don't know pricing and firm launch details, but if this gains enough traction, this could potentially turn Sony into a major player in the burgeoning business of IPTV.

Sony to start testing online TV service

(Telecompaper) Sony will start testing its online TV service in the US in the coming weeks. Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, said that the company would start commercial operation of the service, called PlayStation Vue, within two weeks in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, following invitation-only tests in those cities. The company plans to roll out the new service nationwide by the end of this year, the Wall Street Journal reports. Sony has agreed channels for the service with CBS, Viacom, NBCUniversal and 21st Century Fox. No pricing has been disclosed yet. Discussions with other content providers are "ongoing and are moving forward positively," House said in an interview with the paper.
