A jury on Friday began deliberations on a $30-million lawsuit in the death of an El Paso police officer on Interstate 10. Officer Angel David Garcia, 27, was struck and killed in December 2012 after he stopped his patrol car in the left lane of I-10 East to remove a ladder blocking two lanes near the Hawkins Boulevard exit. The suit alleges that Harvey Richard Hall was driving a semi-truck owned by Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., and caused the chain-reaction crash in which Garcia was killed.

Plaintiffs are urging a federal judge in Little Rock, Ark., to vacate his order dismissing a class-action lawsuit against Exxon Mobil, claiming the oil giant suppressed evidence in the case. The lawsuit, filed over a 2013 oil spill in a Mayflower subdivision, was dismissed last month by the judge.

Laid off American Apparel workers seek damages in lawsuit - court filing

Three former American Apparel Inc employees who were among 200 laid off earlier this year are suing the retailer, saying they were not given appropriate legal notice, their attorney said on Thursday. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California, is seeking about $1 million in damages, attorney Keith Fink told Reuters.

India's Tata Consultancy accused in U.S. lawsuit of South Asian bias

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd has been sued by a white American information technology worker who accused India's largest software services exporter of overwhelming favoritism toward workers of South Asian descent in the United States. In a complaint filed on Tuesday in San Francisco federal court, Steven Heldt said 95 percent of Tata's 14,000-person U.S. workforce descend from South Asia, primarily India, and that the company violated federal civil rights law by intentionally favoring them in hiring, promotion and termination decisions.
