AFTER saving the life of a budgie with a broken leg a local vets are appealing for the owner to come forward. Vale Veterinary Centre took in the poorly bird after he was found on the side of the road near Dow Corning with a broken leg last Tuesday, February 18. They performed lifesaving surgery on the young bird and he is now fighting fit and hoping to make a full recovery.
TCA plegdes its members to hire 50,000 vets in next 4 years

Setting the course for a new year, the Truckload Carriers Association has announced a commitment on behalf of its 700 member companies to hire 50,000 veterans and military spouses into the truckload industry over the next four years. TCA is working to secure hiring pledges for all 50,000 jobs during the first quarter of 2015, and to achieve 100 percent placement in those positions before the end of 2018.
Vets group seeks data on service academies' gender targets

A lawsuit filed in Connecticut on behalf of a female veterans group is pressing the Pentagon for information on gender targets and recruiting policies at U.S. service academies. The complaint filed Tuesday alleges the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy did not respond adequately to requests filed in November for records under the Freedom of Information Act.
