Airbus Defence and Space is a division of Airbus Group formed by combining the business activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Senior Networks Architect with Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth. The successful applicant will join the Ground Systems group within the Earth Observation, Navigation and Science directorate. You will work as a member of the ground systems department acting in some cases as the design authority on a project for all networking aspects. Typical projects include the Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS flight operations system and studiesprototyping projects for new satellite ground systems. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Requirements management and verification processes from system through to the network subsystems ensuring consistency, traceability and compliance at contractor and customer level Detailed architectural design of realtime, complex networks Network modelling for performance analysis Conduct tradeoffs of architectural designs in order to arrive at an optimum solution. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience CCNA, CCNP certifications must be able to confirmdemonstrate knowledge and experience of Cisco protocols and technologies. Extensive experience in Network engineering. Significant network architectural design and handson experience. Detailed knowledge of networking protocols e.g. TCPIP etc Knowledge of IT security devices concepts VPNs, Firewalls etc Knowledge of switching, routing and VLANs Good theoretical and design background in network communications. Excellent technical ability, ideally coupled with management experience at customer and contractor level. Experience of working on customer sites for the delivery of products or systems in support of integration and test activities. You have the ability to interface with customers, industrial team partners and subcontractors. Proven ability of working within an engineering design team and acting as the technical lead on networks design and implementation. Desirable Requirements High grade security endpoints Network modelling tools e.g. Qualnet Understanding of virtualisation technologies including VMWare Experience in similar satellite communications programmes involving site or multisite integration.
