"Barbecue for the Troops" will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 4, 11, 18 and 25 at the 3340 Oakton St. dealership. Over the last two summers, Chicago-area automobile dealers raised $125,000 for the USO of Illinois by hosting a BBQs at numerous car dealerships around Chicagoland as part of a Chicago Automobile Trade Association initiative.

Lone Star Funds buying real estate investment trust Home Properties for about $4.36 billion

Dallas' Lone Star will pay $75.23 per Home Properties share, a 3 per cent premium to the real estate investment trust's Friday closing price of $72.73. Separately, Home Properties Inc. is exchanging a portfolio of up to six properties with UDR Inc. for a combination of cash and newly issued units of a new subsidiary of UDR.

DeWine launches online claims process for rock salt settlement funds

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine on Friday announced a new online claims process to allow local governments throughout the state to request a share of an $11.5 million settlement with Morton Salt Inc. and Cargill Inc. over past rock salt sales to public purchasers. Ohio public entities that bought rock salt from Cargill or Morton between July 2008 and June 2011 may be eligible to receive a share of the settlement.
