UW-L students find Chesapeake blue crab in La Crosse area

Three UW-La Crosse students found a Chesapeake blue crab, which is native to the western Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, on French Island. Abbey Johnson, Brittany Kujatha and Katie Mabery were working on video project for their scientific methods class in mid-November when they found the crab along the shoreline at Airport Beach.
DNR gives La Crosse $250,000 for cleanup project

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has given the City of La Crosse $250,000 to cleanup a former manufacturing site. The money from the DNR's Ready for Reuse Program will pay for the removal and disposal of contamination generated from a pre-World War II rubber mill that later became LaCrosse Footwear.
