Main responsibilities For training activities on behalf of ESA and EC, we are currently looking for a skilled junior Earth Observation Promotion Specialist. The position is for a Junior specialist in EO remote sensing with skills for communication andor training activities with EO data. The candidate will be in charge of contributing to raising awareness of Earth Observation products, tools and services amongst different user communities. This is done by outreach actions , training activities and daily support to RUS operations. For the Outreach actions, the staff will be responsible for the following tasks support the preparation and production of Earth Observation training material e.g. creating new content, editing presentations, webinars, video tutorials, etc. support the preparation and production of Earth Observation promotional material support the dissemination of the material in various format and via various communication channels. For the Training actions, the staff will be responsible for the following tasks support planning, setting and managing eg interfacing with third parties of training events providing assistance, as required, during training events handling, as needed, Webinars managing followup and reporting activities eg training feedback collection For the support to operations actions, the staff will be responsible to systematically check presence of RUS user requests, to analyse them, to interface users and distribute the received support requests to the other RUS team members. Knowledge of the Copernicus sentinel data community as well as knowledge of Sentinel ground segment recent deployments is an asset. The specialist will work in a team of experts Ideal candidate The successful applicant will hold a university degree in Physics, Remote Sensing or similar. Examples of teaching or communication experience are sought. Other skills Experience in EO data processing and applications Good documentation writing and proofreading skills Experience with the preparation and the implementation of promotional material, with focus on online media Ability to manage several tasks in parallel and to prioritise Capability to work in a team Proactive approach to problem identification and resolution Fluent English written and spoken Knowledge of additional languages French, Spanish is an asset Important Any offer of employment is contingent upon you providing documents to verify your identity and employment eligibility, as required by law. As an Earth Observation Specialist you will be joining a department of 25 and a team, of 5 all of whom specialise in EO and love sharing knowledge. Airbus is a global provider of satellite data and valueadded services and is now looking to recruit an earth observation remote sensing specialist with experience in optical andor radar data analysis to join our analytics team. The candidates will need to have a thorough understanding of Earth Observation satellite data and remote sensing. You would be required to work on a range of development projects andor services simultaneously, analysing time series of preprocessed radar or optical satellite imagery to derive new or improved thematic exploitation services. The role will focus on satellite data analysis and algorithm development for the improvement of innovative data applications and services in a range of market sectors such as air quality monitoring, disaster resilience including asset mapping, soil erosion modelling, landslide, forest fire, flood or drought monitoring, marine surveillance, or agriculture. You will be a key player in developing new products and services The projects youll be working with will be dealing with daily, global, data and data analytics. This role will require occasional travel, approx. 4 times a year throughout Europe. The successful candidate will need to gain UK Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs Developing algorithms based on satellitederived data Understanding of data requirements for different thematic applications and ability to locate appropriate data when available Reviewing existing EOderived services across the space industry and identifying gaps Provide technical support to bid managers in proposal writing Contribute to the design of future projects and applications for funding by providing expert input Previous experience reviewing and assessing Earth Observation services Advanced programming skills such as Python, R, IDL, Matlab and good working knowledge of EO software packages such as ERDAS Imagine, Envi, SNAP Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in technical bid writing Capable of identifying existing data sources to integrate within a service, such as sourcing relevant soil, weather, climate and or historical disaster events datasets, Experience in deriving data from preprocessed radar andor optical datasets Must be able to work to tight deadlines Airbus is committed to achieving workforce diversity and creating an inclusive working environment.
