The first 3D-printed human stem cells
2013-02-06 15:47:53| Extremetech
Will replacement organs 20 years out be printed, grown, or built? 3D printing of organs has just been given a huge boost with the demonstration of the ability to print human stem cells. This is the technology of the future, that so many in hospitals wait for today.
3D printing with stem cells could lead to printable organs
2013-02-06 01:31:13| CNET News.com
A potentially breakthrough 3D-printing process using human stem cells could be the precursor to printing organs from a patient's own cells. [Read more]

Norwegians trap sunlight with microbeads, produce solar cells that are 20 times thinner, cheaper
2013-01-29 16:08:18| Extremetech
Researchers from the University of Oslo have used a bunch of "wonderful tricks" to produce silicon solar cells that are twenty times thinner than commercial solar cells. This breakthrough means that solar cells can be produced using 95% less silicon, reducing production costs considerably -- both increasing profits (which are almost nonexistent at the moment), and reducing the cost of solar power installations.
