Cable & Wireless first-quarter revenue rises 4%

Cable & Wireless Communications PLC , a telecoms company serving Caribbean and Central American markets, Tuesday said first-quarter revenue rose 4% to $583 million, helped by revenue from recently-acquired Columbus International Inc. The company had net debt of $2.61 billion on June 30, up by $239 million since March 31, "primarily due to costs associated with the acquisition of Columbus and a scheduled pension top-up payment of GBP31 million." Revenue from the company's Cable & Wireless Communications arm rose 4%, including a 12% increase at Columbus.

La-Z-Boy profit rises, revenue misses estimates

Furniture manufacturer and retailer La-Z-Boy Inc. said Tuesday that profit rose in its fiscal fourth quarter thanks to improved margins, but revenue fell short of estimates. The Michigan-based company last year stopped its domestic production of wood furniture, exited the hospitality business and started importing wood furniture.

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group reported a 2.1 percent increase in full-year revenue to ZAR 77.3 billion from ZAR 75.7 billion in 2014. Excluding the impact of a 50 percent cut in MTRs in South Africa, group revenue in the year to March increased by 4.8 percent. EBITDA declined by 1.5 percent to ZAR 26.9 billion, hurt by negative forex effects and a one-time charge of ZAR 405 million to write down operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Headline earnings per share decreased by 4.0 percent to ZAR 8.60 from ZAR 8.96 in 2014, and net profit fell 8.5 percent to ZAR 12.5 billion.
Actavis revenue rises 60% to beat estimates

Actavis PLC said Monday that its revenue rose a better-than-expected 60% in the first quarter that included the acquisition of Botox maker Allergan Inc. Dublin-based Actavis completed its acquisition of Allergan in March, closing the biggest deal from 2014 and ending one of the year's more dramatic takeover battles. The deal made Actavis one of the world's largest drug makers by sales, offering a range of eye, skin and stomach drugs.
