Vodacom Group Q3 revenue rises 1.5%, underpinned by international operations

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group revenue increased by 1.5 percent to ZAR 23 billion in the third quarter ended 31 December 2018 from ZAR 22.65 billion in the same period of 2017. Service revenue rose by 2.4 percent to ZAR 18.9 billion from ZAR 18.40 billion a year earlier. Group customers climbed by 7.1 percent to 79 million, being up by 5.4 percent in South Africa and by 9.3 percent in international operations.

Naspers revenue rises 29% in H1, classified advertising becomes profitable

(Telecompaper) African media and e-commerce firm Naspers said its revenues increased 29 percent to USD 11.0 billion in the first six months to 30 September from USD 9.0 billion in the same period in 2017. Profit grew 34 percent year on year to USD 2.0 billion from USD 1.7 billion in 2017. Core headline earnings grew 39 percent to USD 1.7 billion from USD 1.2 billion in 2017.

MTS consolidated revenue rises 7% in Q2, subscriber base steady

(Telecompaper) Consolidated revenues of Russian and CIS mobile operator MTS totaled RUB 114.3 billion in the second quarter of this year, up by 7.0 percent year-on-year. Revenue in Russia increased by 7.4 percent to RUB 106.4 billion. Group OIBDA reached RUB 53.9 billion, up by 22.5 percent, and climbed 21.4 percent in Russia to RUB 51.1 billion.

MTN Group H1 revenue rises 10% to ZAR 506 bln

(Telecompaper) MTN Group revenue increased by 9.7 percent to ZAR 505.67 billion in the first six months to 30 June from ZAR 432.28 billion in the same period in 2017. Service revenue increased by 10.2 percent, supported by growth in MTN Nigeria (up 17.0%), MTN Ghana (up 27.9%), MTN South Africa (up 2.9%) and MTN Uganda (up 8.8%). MTN Cameroon and MTN Ivory Coast reported 7.0 percent and 6.6 percent declines in service revenue respectively. Net profit increased to ZAR 73.39 billion from ZAR 40.64 billion in 2017.
