(Telecompaper) Telkom South Africa has launched a SIM-only 1 terabyte monthly LTE deal for ZAR 999 with no fair use policy and on a month-to-month agreement, reports MyBroadband. Telkom said the Covid-19 pandemic has encouraged it to offer this SIM-only smart broadband wireless deal that will ensure that people do not run out of data. The new service runs on Telkom's 2,300 MHz LTE/LTE-A network and there is no speed limit or contract.
Telkom Group FY revenue up 3% to ZAR 43 bln

(Telecompaper) South Africa's Telkom Group revenue said its revenue grew 3 percent to ZAR 43.0 billion in the year to end March, with expansion in the mobile market helping to offset a 22 percent decline in fixed voice revenue. The group reported a 66.4 percent decline in headline earnings per share to ZAR 2.08 per share. Basic earnings per share decreased by 78.4 percent to ZAR 1.21, impacted by one-time costs for voluntary severance and early retirement packages, Covid-19, and a higher effective tax rate.
Vodacom South Africa agrees data price cuts, claims ZAR 2.7 bln in savings for customers

(Telecompaper) Vodacom South Africa says it will introduce a range of initiatives from 01 April that will result in ZAR 2.7 billion in savings for customers using data services. The proposal was approved by the Competition Commission, which had ordered mobile operators to lower the cost of internet services.

Vodacom group revenue up 3.9% to ZAR 21.53 bln in Q1, adds 1.2 mln customers

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group said revenue increased by 4.2 percent to ZAR 21.53 billion in the first quarter ended 30 June from ZAR 20.65 billion in the same period in 2018. Service revenue increased by 3.9 percent to ZAR 17.43 billion from ZAR 16.77 billion in 2018. Despite the impact of cyclones Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique, international service revenue increased by 19.6 percent, largely driven by a 42.7 percent increase in M-Pesa revenue and data demand.

EOH says probe reveals unethical practices and suspicious transactions worth ZAR 1.2 billion

(Telecompaper) South African ICT group EOH says the investigation by legal firm ENSafrica into its past dealings has revealed suspicious transactions worth ZAR 1.2 billion and evidence of serious governance failings and wrongdoing. It said that payments of ZAR 1.2 billion to approximately 78 supplier entities are being investigated to determine whether appropriate work was done for services rendered. It noted that 84 percent of the payments were made to 20 entities.
