In an effort to focus more on the service side of its business, Milwaukee-based mining equipment manufacturer Joy Global Inc. announced that IBM is helping them improve Joy Global's data-driven predictive maintenance product. The cloud-based system uses data from all of Joy Global's Smart Services-connected machines, which can then predict mining machine failures and helps the user by recommending preventative actions for customers.
