Apple Suppliers Drop Globally After IPhone Output Cut Report

Apple Inc. suppliers from Asia to Europe fell after a report saying the world's most valuable company would reduce first quarter output of its latest iPhones by about 30 percent. Dialog Semiconductor Plc, which makes chips used in the iPhone and gets most of its sales from Apple, lost as much as 6.6 percent in Frankfurt after Nikkei Asian Review reported the output cut.

Concerns are deepening on Wall Street about potential weakness in iPhone shipments following a light revenue forecast from one of Apple's suppliers. Shares of Cupertino, California-based Apple fell 1.4 percent on Thursday and were down 6 percent over the past five sessions, reflecting growing worries that iPhone shipments next year could fall for the first time since the device's launch in 2007 as fewer people replace their smartphones.

Kellogg tells suppliers to halve GHG emissions by 2050

Kellogg will work with its suppliers directly for the first time to help reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2050. "Kellogg Company recognizes that upstream agriculture emissions and manufacturing are the largest sources of emissions in the company's supply chain and is focusing efforts on reductions in these two areas," the company said.

Miraka offers 20c bonus to suppliers under excellence scheme

Miraka, a minnow in New Zealand's multi-billion dollar export dairy processing industry, has introduced a new farming excellence programme that will pay a premium of 20 cents per kilogram of milk solids above the base milk price. The predominantly Maori-owned Miraka, which started in 2011, has a whole milk powder factory and UHT plant at Mokai, 30 kilometres northwest of Taupo.

After roundly trouncing a new wage pact during the weekend, The United Auto Workers, Local 699, struck Nexteer, a major Detroit supplier of drivelines and steering parts. Nexteer, formerly owned by General Motors, is the property by Pacific Century Motors, a Chinese joint venture between Tempo Group of Beijing and an affiliate of the Beijing municipal government, said Automotive News this morning.
