Global 4G revenues to overtake 3G sales in 2016

(Telecompaper) 4G will overtake 3G technologies in global revenues this year. 4G will account for 49 percent of revenue this year, from a 25 percent share of year-end subscriptions, according to a report from Strategy Analytics. The report forecasts that 4G revenue growth will be offset by a 21 percent decline in 2G service revenue and 19 percent decline in 3G revenue in 2016.

(Telecompaper) The smartphone market will grow just 3.1 percent to 1.48 billion units this year, below the previous prediction of a 5.7 percent growth, according to the latest report from IDC. The figure represents a significant slowdown from growth of 10.5 percent last year and 27.8 percent in 2014, said IDC, which updated its forecast to reflect the continued deceleration in China and mature markets, with Japan and Canada expected to contract by 6.4 percent and 6.9 percent. However, shipments are still set to increase at a CAGR of around 5 percent to 1.84 billion by 2020.

ROMANIA - Romanian meat processor Vascar S.A. increased its meat products sales by 34% and its sales of canned meat by 43% in the first four months of this year. Company representatives says that this is largely due to last year’s decision by the country’s cabinet to decrease the value-added tax (VAT) on meat and processed meat products, writes Jaroslaw Adamowski.
