GAVILON GRAIN NAMES LEWIS BATCHELDER ITS NEW CEO, ANNOUNCES OTHER EXECUTIVE CHANGES Feb. 29, 2016 Reuters reports: Gavilon LLC has hired a former executive at rival Archer Daniels Midland to take the helm as part of a major management reshuffle that is the latest sign a commodities rout is forcing changes at global grains merchants. Gavilon, owned by Japanese trading house Marubeni Corp, named Lewis Batchelder as chief executive officer to replace Jim Anderson, making him the company's second boss in less than two years.

CHS DONATES $10,000 TO FUND COMMUNITY GRAIN BIN SAFETY EQUIPMENT Feb. 26, 2016 Source: CHS Inc. news release CHS Inc. , the nation's leading farmer-owned cooperative and a global energy, grains and foods company, announced today it has contributed $10,000 to the third annual Grain Bin Safety Week. The donation will fund grain bin rescue tubes and specialized training that fire departments use to help save farmers, ranchers and other workers engulfed in grain bins.

Feb 25 Ottawa should phase out over seven years its cap on the amount of revenue railways can earn transporting grain, a study for the Canadian government recommended on Thursday, a move long urged by railways and opposed by farmers and grain handlers. A review of Canadian transportation laws, aimed at modernizing the system, recommended that Western Canadian grain movement become more "commercially grounded."
