Textile fiber prices have continued falling in the last weeks before eventually stabilizing over a rebound of crude oil prices and a return of optimism on financial and commodity markets. Polyester, viscose, acrylic or nylon 6 prices are however not expected sharply recovering in the coming period, partly due to seasonal trends, with Chinese holidays looming. The slowing down economic growth in China is also negatively affecting global demand. Polyester fiber prices have continued falling in China and India in December whereas staying firm in local currency terms in Pakistan. Gross margins have moved in opposite directions in China and India, however, whereas remaining frozen in Pakistan. The rebound of crude oil prices in the past days could further change the market trends and the way margins are moving at spinning mills.
