Mass Extinction of Large Ice Age Mammals Linked to Climate-Induced Vegetation Changes

2014-02-06 02:31:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

Nature World: It is generally accepted that climate change led to the extinction of the mammoth and other large mammals following the last Ice Age, but an international team of researchers behind a new report in the journal Nature claims to have found the smoking gun that pinpoints which of climate change's myriad effects led to the mass extinction of large mammals. By analyzing sediment samples from more than 10,000 years ago and the gut contents of permafrozen woolly rhinos, mammoths and other extinct Ice Age...

PETA Protest Calls For Extinction Of Cattle

2014-01-13 18:33:13| Beef

Its hard to believe people still take a group like People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) seriously, as their escapades are so ridiculous and nonsensical. Climate change threatens native eucalyptus species with extinction, Queensland study finds

2014-01-13 08:57:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

Australian Broadcasting Corporation: The future is looking grim for some species of Australian eucalyptus trees, as they feel the impact of more severe heatwaves, droughts and floods. Researchers from the University of Queensland looked at such effects on more than 100 eucalypt species, finding that some may be wiped out from increasingly extreme weather conditions. The report was modelled on two temperature scenarios. The first scenario was for an increase of one degree by 2055 and an increase of just over two degrees by 2085....

There's no question that 2013 was a landmark year for LGBT rights in America. Evidence of Mass Extinction Associated With Climate Change 375 Million Years Ago

2013-12-14 02:42:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

ScienceDaily: Members of a U.N.-sponsored research team with members from Appalachian State University's Department of Geology have found evidence for catastrophic oceanographic events associated with climate change and a mass extinction 375 million years ago that devastated tropical marine ecosystems. "The Late Devonian mass extinction was one of the five largest mass extinction events in the history of life," said Professor Johnny Waters, who is a co-leader of the five-year, U.N. International Geoscience...
