Ohio-based Murray Energy Corp. has agreed to pay $3.3 million to settle safety violations at five West Virginia coal mines it bought from Cecil-based Consol Energy Inc. in 2013. The settlement resolves 1,753 violations incurred when Consol was still in charge of the mines.
