C Spire to deploy 1 Gbps FTTH broadband in Jackson, Miss.

(Telecompaper) Mississippi's largest city and its state capital is collaborating with C Spire to offer residents in the city of Jackson access to 1 Gbps Fibe to the Home (FTTH) broadband internet. Municipal leaders and C Spire executives announced plans at a Convention Centre new conference on 9 October that it would be boosting efforts to qualify more of the city's neighbourhoods sooner for 100 times faster broadband fibre-based internet access and related digital HD TV and home phone services.

Adam Thurn, an Aerospace Engineer at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), has invented a nichrome burn wire mechanism for these CubeSats, as they're called, to deploy something once in orbit.
