JOB DESCRIPTION The facilities within ESTRACK require operations engineering services as provided by Ground Operations Engineers GOE assigned to a set of missions. Ground Operations Engineers are responsible for providing the ops engineering services required for their missions during preparation and execution phase. During the routine phase, they are the first level of escalation of services provided by the Network Operations Centre NOC. Their typical counterparts on the side of ESA missions are Analysts and Spacecraft Operations Engineers. The GOE services are defined below. There is a prime and deputy GOE for each mission The core services of Ground Operations Engineering are as follows Provide services for the mission specific validation of ground segment elements prior to critical operations and after major modifications during the support Support services for the definition of mission specific ground station configuration in the ops preparation phase and after major modifications Support services for the validation of station configuration and MC for remote operations Provide services for validation of external tracking stations Provide supervision and training services to the NOC during the lifetime of the mission Generate and maintain mission specific Ground Segment Operations documentation e.g. Ground Operation Procedures, training material during lifetime of mission Followup services for investigations of anomalies incidents and problems affecting the ground services to the mission. Support regular meeting with missions e.g. WORM, ICM or event driven meetings e.g. MRBs. As mission technology partner of PTScientists GmbH, we are looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer for Mission to the Moon to join our team in Darmstadt. Tasks The successful candidate will be supporting operations preparation activities for the Mission to the Moon MttM mission and for other potentially upcoming missions supported by SCISYS. The candidate will be able to contribute with hisher skills from the very beginning of the project lifecycle. For the MttM mission, heshe will be an integral member of the operations team, conducting operations preparation and successive execution for the successful lunar transfer, soft landing on the Moons surface and lunar rovers delivery of the ALINA spacecraft. For this position, in support to the MttM mission, the following tasks are currently envisaged, but the assignments might change during the projects development depending on the operational needs. Similar tasks would need to be performed for operations preparations for other potentially upcoming missions. Review, refine and complement relevant documentation generated during preceding phases Support the development of all the required documentation as per operational phase Define, implement and validate the Flight Operations Procedures for LEOP, platform and payload commissioning, lunar transfer, lunar capture, powered descent, soft landing on the Moons surface and lunar rovers delivery Train, prepare training material and provide training to other members of the operations team Define, coordinate, conduct and document system validation activities as simulation campaigns, SVTs, mission rehearsals, etc. Test and validate all operational items Perform operational configuration management Participate in technical meetings, formal reviews and scheduling and planning meetings Conduct LEOP, platform and payload commissioning, lunar transfer, lunar capture, powered descent, soft landing on the Moons surface and lunar rovers delivery operations as member of the MttM operations team Essential requirements The successful candidate will have A university masters degree in aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics or equivalent Demonstrated and consolidated experience in the field of spacecraft operations preferably more than 5 years, preferably in interplanetary missions operations. Fluency in English. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
